Death certificate

Civil registration services are currently closed to the public for walk-in services. You can order a death certificate by email or online.

Information you need to provide

To get a death certificate you need to provide:

  • full name of the deceased
  • date of death
  • name of street, hospital, home, town where the deceased died
  • former address of deceased
  • age of deceased when they passed away

Fees

A death certificate costs €20.

Postage for online and postal orders is €1.50 per order in Ireland and €2 per order outside of Ireland.

Order by phone

You can order and pay by phone in all civil registration offices except Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow.

Order by email

You can order by email from all civil registration offices except Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow.

Include your phone number if ordering by email. We will call you back to take payment over the phone.
