Speech and Language Therapy - Adult
The Primary Care Speech and Language Therapy adult service accepts referrals for individuals with communication and swallow difficulties. These difficulties may result from the following conditions: stroke; dementia; brain injury; Parkinsons disease, other neurological conditions, including MND, MS; respiratory conditions; cancer; voice. We work closely with the individual and with their family and the wider community to support their communication and swallow. We link with the wider primary care and hospital healthcare teams.
Referrals and Appointments
Available To
Adults with acquired communication difficulties, adults with acquired swallowing difficulties, adults with voice difficulties. We do not currently accept referrals for adults living with lifelong communication/swallow needs from childhood or those living in residential care settings.
Who needs to refer you
GP, public health nurse or any member of your healthcare team, self-referral.
Referral information
Referrals can be emailed or posted. You can refer by: phoning your local Primary Care Centre to speak to your local Speech and Language Therapist; email; if you are referring for voice you will beed to be seen by an ENT consultant within the last 6 months.
