Creating a plan

Planning is an important step in turning your goals into reality.

When you’ve set your goals, a plan helps you break them down into specific steps, making them more achievable.

Your plan should include the 5 Ws:

  • What
  • Where
  • When
  • With whom
  • Why

For example, if your goal is to walk 30 minutes a day, your plan might include:

  • ‘What’ is a walk
  • ‘Where’ is around the block
  • ‘When’ is every evening at 6pm
  • ‘With whom’ is with your neighbour
  • ‘Why’ is because you want to improve your sleep

It’s also important to think about things that might change your plan, such as bad weather. Then you can plan how to manage them. For example, if it's raining, wear a raincoat or exercise indoors.

By creating a plan, you are taking the steps to achieve your goals.
