Parking
St. Vincent’s University Hospital campus has pay on exit barrier controlled car parks. Patients and visitors requiring access to the public car parks need to take a ticket on entry and pay the correct parking fee at the nearest pay stations before returning to their car. Pay stations accept cash (correct change where possible), credit or debit cards.
Patient collection/drop off points
Drop off points for patients/visitors who are unable to walk from the various car parks are located near to the main entrance, the Herbert Wing, as well as Carew House, Emergency Department and the Charles Centre for Dermatology. There is also a 20 minutes free period in all car parks to allow drop off /collection. There is no charge for this service – provided the vehicle leaves the car park within these timescales.
Disabled parking
Blue badge holders may park in the dedicated parking bays as long as they are clearly displaying a valid badge. There are a number of disabled free parking spaces in the immediate vicinity of the main entrance. All cars must clearly display a valid blue badge and there is a maximum 4 hour time limit in these spaces. Please note blue badge holders are required to pay for parking within the public barrier controlled car parks.

Pay stations are located in each car park and the main car park management office is located in Car Park 1 (Multi-storey).
Car parking fees:
- 0 to 20 minutes, free of charge
- 20 to 60 minutes, €2.50
- 1 to 2 hours, €4.80
- 2 to 3 hours, €7.20
- 3 to 4 hours, €9.20
- 4 to 5 hours, €11.00
- 5 to 6 hours, €11.90
- 6 to 7 hours, €12.90
- 7 to 24 hours, €14.00
- Lost ticket charge, €14.00

Restaurants
Restaurant
The restaurant is on the ground floor of the Clinical Services Building to the left of the main entrance. It serves breakfast (hot food and fresh fruit), lunch and dinner including hot meals and a fresh salad bar.
Open: Monday to Sunday, 7.15am to 12.30pm and 1.45pm to 5.30pm (Due to Covid-19 restrictions this restaurant is currently closed).
Coffee Shops
Coffee Cuisine is located beside the main ground floor reception desk and serving take away pastries, paninis, sandwiches, wraps, soup, tea, coffee, soft drinks.
Open: Monday to Sunday 8am to 12.30pm and 1.45pm to 5.30pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am to 6pm.
Costa Coffee is located further inside the building and offers take away ready-made sandwiches, wraps, pastries, soft drinks, tea and coffee.
Open: Monday to Friday 7am to 7.30pm, Saturday 9am to 7.30pm, Sunday 9.30am to 7.30pm.
Vending machines
There are vending machines located throughout the hospital offering a wide selection of confectionery and hot and cold drinks. Vending machines can be found on the ground floor and in the Emergency Department waiting room.
Transport
Buses
The following buses stop on Merrion Road at the front of the hospital:-
- No. 4 from Harristown through O’Connell Street to Monkstown Avenue.
- No. 7 from Mountjoy Square to Loughlinstown / Cherrywood.
- No. 47 bus stops on Nutley Lane at the side of the hospital (from Townsend Street to Belarmine).

DART/Trains –
Sydney Parade Station is a five-minute walk from the hospital and provides DART services from Malahide/Howth in North Co. Dublin to Bray and Greystones in Co. Wicklow.
A number of Intercity and suburban trains also stop at the station – eg. from Dundalk, Drogheda, Arklow and Rosslare. Visit www.irishrail.ie or phone 1850 366 222 for train timetables and updates.
Taxis
There is no official taxi rank outside St. Vincent’s University Hospital however, taxis are usually available at the front entrance. If a taxi is not available, the porter at the main reception desk will direct you to a free phone where you will be able to order a taxi from a list of numbers provided.
Shop
There are two newsagents on the ground floor of the Clinical Services Building. One is beside the main entrance (opposite the restaurant) and the other is a little inside the building beside the Costa Coffee. Both newsagents sell a range of toiletries, daily papers, cards, magazines, books, confectionery, drinks and fruit.
Open: Monday to Friday 7.30am to 8pm and Saturday and Sunday 8am to 8pm.
Internet Access
Wireless internet access is available for all patients. Contact ward staff for further details.
Smoke-free campus
All our hospitals are smoke-free campuses. Smoking is not allowed throughout the hospital and the hospital grounds. Supports available to give up smoking
