This accessibility statement applies to all content in the HSE Health App.
The Health Service Executive (HSE) manage the app.
The app version is 1.3.2 (+98) published on 7 February 2025.
Readability
We’ve made the app text as easy to understand as possible. We use ‘readability’ tests as one measure of how easy it is to understand our content. We aim for a reading age of about 9 (grade 4).
Device settings
We want as many people as possible to be able to use this app.
This means that you can use different device settings to access the content in the ways you need to.
For example, you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using device settings
- navigate most of the app using a keyboard or speech recognition software
- listen to most of the app using your device’s screen reader
- view content in different ways without losing information or structure
For advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability visit my computer my way - abilitynet.co.uk.
Less accessible parts of the app
Some parts of this app are not fully accessible, for example, you cannot:
- navigate by heading levels, as this information is not supported in the app
- zoom in or out of content
- skip repeated header navigation blocks and move straight to app content

Compliance status
This app is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard.
Non-accessible content
The content that is not accessible is listed below. We aim to fix these issues by April 2025.
Content that is not accessible:
- Some pages within the app are missing content that is structured. This means that some users of assistive technology will not be able to navigate by headings.
- Some controls have duplicate names, and are missing descriptive text. This means that some users of assistive technology will not be able to navigate by control name alone.
- Some controls are missing alternative text, such as the radio buttons for yes and no on the 'Add a medicine' form. This means that some users of assistive technology will not be able to navigate by form controls alone.
- Some user interface components cannot be programmatically determined by all users.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 16 September 2024. It was last reviewed on 14 February 2025. This app was last tested for accessibility issues on 7 February 2025. The test was carried out by Vially and HSE Digital.
How we did the test
We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level A and Level AA to test and audit the level of conformance.
We have tested the app using an external auditor Vially, as well as internally within our team. The app has been tested on different devices and assistive technologies.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
We have assembled a multi-disciplinary team who are working on accessibility on an ongoing basis. Departments and agencies are urgently fixing content which fails to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 AA standard. We will update this page when issues are fixed.
