The HSE Health App is a secure way to:
- access HSE information
- find health services
- keep and find your personal health information
It is available for free on iOS and Android.
Who can use the app
You must be age 16 or older to use the HSE Health App. You also need a smart phone or tablet.
The HSE Health App is only available to:
- Android smartphones and devices on Android 10.1 (Queen Cake)
- iPhone 6 and above
- iOS devices on iOS 13.4 or above
You need a MyGovID to log into the app
To log in to the app you need a verified MyGovID. You will only see your personal health information in the app if you log in.
Logging in with a verified MyGovID means we know we are sharing personal health information with the right person.
You can still use some parts of the app without a verified MyGovID. You will be able to find information about health conditions and HSE services. But you will not be able to see your personal health information.
You need a PPS number and a public services card to get a verified MyGovID.
If you do not have a public services card, it can sometimes take a few days to get one.

What you can do in the app
If you log in to the latest version of the app you can:
- see your hospital appointments, if you are a maternity patient
- keep a list of your medicines
- see digital versions of health cards, such as the medical card
- see your COVID-19 and flu vaccine records
We will add new features to the app regularly.
If you do not log in to the app you can still:
- get information on conditions, treatments and medicines
- find services near you, such as GPs and emergency care
Appointments
If you are a maternity patient, use the app to check your:
- upcoming hospital appointments
- past appointments
- cancelled appointments
We will add appointment information for other types of care in the future.
Cancelling or rescheduling appointments
You cannot use the app to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
Phone the service where you are due to have your appointment to cancel or change.
Medicines list
Use the app to make a list of:
- prescribed medicines you take or use
- medicines you buy without a prescription
- vitamins and supplements you are taking
Include inhalers, patches, injections, creams, gels, sprays, pessaries, eye drops and any other prescribed products.
Having a medicines list can help if:
- you find it hard to remember your medicines
- your GP or pharmacist ask you what medicines you take
If you stop taking a medicine you can remove it from your list.
Your medicines do not show automatically.
Medicines the HSE pays for
Medicines you get as part of the Drugs Payment Scheme or Medical Cared Scheme automatically appear in your HSE Health App.
These are medicines you do not have to pay for - the HSE pays the pharmacy. The list is updated every 3 months.
If you want to remove a medicine from the list, select the name of the medicine. Then select 'remove medicine'.
Health cards
You can see your health cards in the app if you have them.
These include:
- GP visit card
- medical card
- EHIC card
- drug payment card
- long term illness card
You will be able to view the details for each card. For example, your medical card number and expiry date.
You will only see your own cards in the app. If you have EHIC cards for your children, make sure to bring these with you when you travel abroad with them.
Vaccines
You can view when you last had:
- flu vaccine
- COVID-19 vaccine or booster
This can help if you want to know when you may need another vaccine or booster.
If you do not log in
If you do not log in, you will not be able to see any of your personal health information.
But you can still use the app to:
- search information on conditions, treatments, medicines and mental health
- find services near you, such as GPs and emergency care
What's coming next
