Waiting lists
You will see waiting list details in the app if you have been added to an inpatient or day case waiting list.
Not all waiting list information is available in the app yet.
You will not see how long you will wait or where you are on the list. But you will see your priority status.
You can check estimated wait times for care on our website.
Inpatient
Inpatient care includes an overnight stay in a hospital.
Day case
For day cases, you are usually discharged on the same day as your care or treatment.
Outpatient
We'll add outpatient waiting list information in 2026.
An outpatient appointment is a consultation with a consultant or a member of their team.
GP referrals
You can see some referrals for further care that your GP has made for you.
Not all referrals are available in the app yet. If you cannot see your referral, it does not mean it has not been made. Check with your GP if you are concerned.
When your GP refers you for further care, they may send multiple referrals to different hospitals.
You may not get an appointment at every hospital you are referred to.
When the hospital receives your referral, they will contact you about the next steps.
Appointments
You can use the app to see:
- hospital appointments
- breast screening appointments
- maternity care appointments
- helpful information about your appointment
Not all hospital appointments can be seen in the app. It depends on if your hospital shares your appointment information with us.
It might take a few days for your appointment to show in the app.
Your hospital or clinic will also confirm your appointment by letter. If you are unsure about your appointment, phone your hospital or clinic.

Changes to your appointment
If your appointment changes it will update in the app. You will get a notification if you have notifications enabled.
It's normal for your appointment to change a few times before your consultant writes to you. You might get a number of notifications.
Cancelling or rescheduling appointments
You cannot use the app to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
Phone the service where you are due to have your appointment to cancel or change.
Medicines list
Use the app to make a list of:
- prescribed medicines you take or use
- medicines you buy without a prescription
- vitamins and supplements you are taking
You can include inhalers, patches, injections, creams, gels, sprays, pessaries, eye drops and any other prescribed products.
Your medicines do not show automatically.
Having a medicines list can help if:
- you find it hard to remember your medicines
- your GP or pharmacist asks you what medicines you take
If you stop taking a medicine you can remove it from your list.
Medicines the HSE pays for
Medicines you get as part of the Drugs Payment Scheme or Medical Card Scheme automatically appear in your HSE Health App.
These are medicines you do not have to pay for - the HSE pays the pharmacy.
The list is updated every 3 months. If your prescribed medicine doesn't show yet, it will show after a few weeks.
If you want to remove a medicine from the list, select the name of the medicine. Then select 'remove medicine'.
Health cards
You can see your health cards in the app if you have them.
These include:
You will be able to view the details for each card. For example, your medical card number and expiry date.
You will only see your own cards in the app. If you have EHIC cards for your children, make sure to bring these with you when you travel abroad with them.
Vaccines
You can view when you last had a:
- flu vaccine
- COVID-19 vaccine or booster
This can help you to know when you may need another vaccine or booster.
If you do not log in
If you do not log in, you will not be able to see any of your personal health information.
But you can still use the app to:
- search information on conditions, treatments, medicines and mental health
- find services near you, such as GPs and emergency care
What's coming next
We’re improving the app and adding new features regularly.
We’re currently working on new features which will mean you can:
- get help taking up physical activity
- see scans and test results
In the future, you will be able to use the app to:
- check your wait time for scheduled tests or treatment
- get support and advice on living with a chronic (long-term) condition
- read information before and after your appointment
