Psychology Child Services
A clinical psychologist is someone who is trained to help people with a range of emotional, behavioural and developmental concerns. These difficulties may be affecting how someone is feeling, thinking, or behaving. Psychologists use their knowledge to help people understand their difficulties and explore ways to make positive changes.

Referral information
We require a written referral (either the primary care referral form or a letter outlining concerns) to add a child’s name to the waiting list. All referrals are discussed at the monthly referrals meeting of the Wicklow Primary Care Psychology Team. The purpose of this referral meeting is to ensure that all referrals are appropriately placed as we endeavour to provide an efficient psychology service in Co. Wicklow. Once a referral has been discussed and accepted, the individual is placed onto the waiting list in order of referral date and is offered an appointment as soon as possible. We have found that due to concerns about waiting times and uncertainty about the correct service, individuals have been referred to more than one service at the same time. We would ask that you avoid doing this as it can make it difficult for us to accurately judge waiting times and service needs.
