Obstetrics

Obstetrics is the area of medicine concerned with pregnancy, the delivery of babies and the welfare of the mother. Consultant obstetricians work closely with midwives in all aspects of routine and complex antenatal care, care of the mother and baby during delivery, and post natal support.

Obstetric Sonography Service

Obstetric ultrasound uses sound waves to produce real-time visual images of a baby (embryo or fetus) within a pregnant woman. It has no harmful effects. The Obstetric Sonography Service is available for all patients attending UMHL and scans are provided at 13 weeks and at 32 weeks.

Internal directions

Sonography services are held in the main clinic in UMHL. Proceed through the front door, take the first right through double doors, proceed past the shop, take the stairs going down and continue straight. At the end of the stairs area, the service is to the left with signage present.
