Visiting restrictions

Visiting is restricted in all areas of the hospital.Currently, all visitors are required to wear a face mask. Masks are available at the hospital. Patients can only have one visitor at a time.

Visiting Times

Visiting times are:

• 6pm to 8pm

Maternity unit

In the interest of privacy, the use of phone cameras and video equipment is prohibited in areas where monitoring equipment is operating.

Support partners can visit from:

• 10am to midday
• 6pm to 8pm

Support partners may also attend:

• early pregnancy assessment unit (EPAU)
• booking and anomaly ultrasounds
• antenatal clinics for high-risk cases
• maternity unit (for induction, early labour, or caesarean)
• special care baby unit (SCBU) by appointment

Support partners can also attend in some other circumstances. Check with the maternity unit.

Emergency department

There is no visiting allowed in the emergency department.

Protect yourself and others

Do not visit a hospital if you have any symptoms of cold, flu, COVID-19, or any viral illness.

Clean your hands regularly and use hand sanitiser

You may be asked to wear a face mask and PPE in parts of the hospital.

The car park is at the back of the hospital. The entrance and exit have one-way systems.

Parking is €4 a day. The first 30 minutes are free.

If you are visiting more than once a day, pay the €4 and bring your ticket to the Security Office. They will give you a multi-pass.

There are designated areas for drivers with a disability. A relevant parking permit must be displayed.

There are age-friendly parking spaces available near the main entrance.

There are set-down only spaces at the North Entrance.

Cars may be clamped if they are parked in the wrong place.

Paying a bill:

Paying a bill online is through Pay a HSE bill online or scan QR code on bill or ring 1800 852 445

The oratory is located near the main entrance of the hospital. Everyone is welcome to visit the oratory for prayer or meditation.

The Roman Catholic Hospital Chaplain and Church of Ireland clergy are available upon request. Contact the main switchboard to arrange a visit. Visits from clergy or representatives of other denominations and faiths can also be arranged on request. Patients and families may also contact their own parish clergy directly to visit.

Weekday mass times

• Mass is at 10.15am every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

Weekend mass times

• Mass is celebrated on Sunday at 10.15am

Patients must tell a member of staff before going to the oratory.

The oratory is open 24 hours a day, every day. All patients and their families are welcome.

The Chaplaincy Department provides Communion to all wards each Sunday and Friday for patients who wish to receive.

Sacrament of the Sick

This sacrament is offered to anyone who is seriously ill, in need of spiritual strength and healing or is at the end of life. Family members may arrange for this sacrament by contacting ward staff or the Chaplain through the Main Switchboard. Family members are welcome to be present during the celebration.

Sacrament of Reconciliation

The Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) is available on request. Contact the Chaplain through the Main Switchboard to make arrangements.

Bereavement Remembrance Service

Each year, shortly after Easter, a Remembrance Service is held for families who have experienced the loss of a child during pregnancy, shortly after birth, or during childhood. Details of this service will be advertised through local media channels.

Annual Remembrance Mass

Every October, close to the Feast of St Luke, a Remembrance Mass is held for all patients who have died in St Luke’s Hospital during the previous year.

Families of those who passed away in the hospital between 1 September and 31 August of the preceding year are invited to attend.
