Breast screening register

We put together a list of people who can get free breast screening through the national breast screening programme - BreastCheck.

We call this the BreastCheck register.

Who can have breast screening

When you will get a breast screening mammogram appointment

Using the BreastCheck register

Use the BreastCheck register to:

  • check if you're on the BreastCheck register
  • add up-to-date contact information

You will need your PPS number and date of birth.

If you cannot use the online BreastCheck register, contact us.

Why check if you're on the breast screening register

If you are not on the BreastCheck register we can add you to it.

Many people are already on the breast screening register.

But some people may:

  • not be on it yet
  • be marked as 'inactive' - for example, this can happen if you told us you moved abroad

Add up to-date information

Give us your full up-to-date contact information when:

  • you first check if you're on the BreastCheck register
  • when your contact information changes

How to update your contact information

You can use the BreastCheck register to change your contact information.

You will need your PPS number and date of birth.

After you enter these you can enter your contact information. You cannot view the address we have stored for you.

This is to protect your details from anyone who knows both your PPS number and date of birth.

If you cannot use the BreastCheck register to update your contact information, contact us.

You can phone, send an email or send a letter by post.

If you want us to stop contacting you

Tell us if you do not want us to send you breast screening appointments anymore.

If you move abroad

Contact us to tell us if you move:

  • abroad, so we can stop sending you appointments
  • back to Ireland, so we can start sending you appointments again

If you do not want breast screening

You may decide you do not want to have breast screening. Telling us you do not want to have breast screening is known as opting out of breast screening.

Before you do this, talk to your GP or phone us.
