Coronavirus: Be responsible. Be safe

Health information and advice to stop the spread of coronavirus

Why pregnancy lifestyle changes are important

During pregnancy you're at a greater risk of illness from chemicals and infections. It may affect your unborn baby’s growth and development if you become ill while pregnant.

Lifestyle changes can reduce the risk to your health, and the health of your unborn baby.

Hand washing

Washing your hands is one of the best ways to protect yourself from illness.

You should wash your hands with soap and warm water, especially after:

  • going to the toilet
  • helping a child use the toilet
  • handling potties
  • changing a baby’s nappy
  • before and after preparing food
  • before you eat
  • after having contact with animals
