Breast service

Breast services provide multi-disciplinary care to patients with symptomatic breast disease and in particular, to women with breast cancers. Triple Assessment Clinics where patients can be seen by a surgeon, have imaging (mammogram/ultrasound) and biopsy (Fine Needle Aspiration for Cytology) at the same visit.

Wound Review clinic

The Wound Review clinic specialises in the care for patients with diverse needs. This includes managing drains, dressings and acute or chronic wounds. For patients post-mastectomies and axillary node clearance, wound drains are typically removed 5-7 days postoperatively. In cases where excess fluid is present, drains may be retained for additional days, with antibiotics if necessary. Reconstruction patients have dressings in place for approximately two weeks, and other wound dressings are addressed and removed during routine clinic reviews. The clinic also focuses on managing acute and chronic wounds, providing tailored dressings for those experiencing breakdowns post-surgery, with ongoing care for a number of weeks. The clinic is nurse-led.
