About Nuclear Medicine
A positron emission tomography (PET) scan is a diagnostic imaging test that allows your doctor to check for diseases in your body. It is a nuclear medicine using small amounts of radioactive drug to show differences between healthy and diseased tissue. Because the amount of radiation you're exposed to is small, the risk of negative effects from it is low.
