Breast service

The breast service provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for patients with symptomatic breast conditions, with a special focus on women diagnosed with breast cancer. Our triple assessment clinics offer a streamlined experience where patients can see a surgeon, undergo imaging (such as mammograms or ultrasounds), and receive a biopsy (fine needle aspiration for cytology) all in one visit.

Wound review clinic

The wound review clinic specialises in the care for patients with diverse needs. This includes managing drains, dressings and acute or chronic wounds. For patients post-mastectomies and axillary node clearance, wound drains are typically removed 5-7 days postoperatively. In cases where excess fluid is present, drains may be retained for additional days, with antibiotics if necessary. Reconstruction patients have dressings in place for approximately two weeks, and other wound dressings are addressed and removed during routine clinic reviews. The clinic also focuses on managing acute and chronic wounds, providing tailored dressings for those experiencing breakdowns post-surgery, with ongoing care for a number of weeks. The clinic is nurse-led.
