Ultrasound
An ultrasound scan, sometimes called a sonogram, uses high-frequency sound waves to create a live, moving picture of part of the inside of the body. It is often used to monitor an unborn baby, diagnose a condition, or guide a surgeon during certain procedures. A camera-like device called an ultrasound probe is used, which gives off high-frequency sound waves. These bounce off the body, creating echoes that are picked up by the probe to create an image. The image is displayed on a monitor while the scan is carried out. The procedure is painless and completely safe.
