The home support service is provided by either our staff or 1 of our approved home support providers.
If you are approved for support and our staff are not available, an approved provider will deliver the service to you.
How to choose a provider
We will give you a list of approved home support providers to choose from. It's a good idea to choose more than 1 option.
Your first choice may not be available. We can also choose your provider, if you prefer.
Once a provider is chosen, we will work with you and the provider to arrange the days and times that suit your care needs.
Your individual care needs will be identified during your needs assessment.
Home support standards
Providers approved by us must meet certain national standards. These are based on the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) standards.
This means providers must:
- regularly check in with you (or your representative) about your home support service
- make sure staff are trained and follow up-to-date policies, procedures and codes of practice
- have clear management and accountability for safe care

Payment
Payment is only made to providers approved by us. Approved providers can only charge the rates we agreed with them.
Your provider may ask you to confirm that the service you get matches what was agreed with the HSE.
