If you suffer hearing loss as an adult, it can can have a big impact on your quality of life. But, there is lots of support and advice to help you adjust to the change.

Many deaf and hard-of-hearing adults experience hearing loss gradually. They can find it hard to recognise speech and to communicate.

It can also take time to get used to a hearing aid.

The audiology service can help adults by:

  • showing you how to use and adjust a hearing aid
  • providing training in speech perception and communication
  • providing counselling to help you deal with the emotional and psychological effects of deafness
