How to order a BowelScreen home test kit

Using the kit

Use the BowelScreen home test kit to collect a sample of poo. Use the envelope included to send it for testing.

Getting ready

You can use the BowelScreen home test kit at any time of day or night. You do not need to change your normal routine or what you eat.

  1. Write the date on the label on the plastic bag.
  2. Place sheets of toilet paper into the toilet bowl. This is to stop your poo from going into the toilet water and make it easier to collect your poo sample.

Collecting your poo sample

  1. Poo onto the toilet paper.
  2. Wash and dry your hands after you poo.
  3. Take the tube from the kit, twist the green cap open and pull the sampling stick from the tube.
  4. Scrape the sampling stick across your poo 2 or 3 times. Make sure the end of the stick is covered.
  5. Put the sampling stick into the tube.
  6. Twist the green cap until you hear a click - this means it is sealed and you are not to reopen it.
  7. Wash and dry your hands.
  8. Put the sealed tube into the plastic bag.

Sending your poo sample for testing

  1. Check that the date on the label of the plastic bag is the date you collected your poo sample.
  2. Put the plastic bag into the envelope that came with the kit.
  3. Seal the envelope.
  4. Put the sealed envelope in the post, as you would with a letter - it is safe to send in the post and free to send.
Information:

Post the envelope on the same day you collect the poo sample, or the next day.
