Parking

Parking is available on site. The current parking charge is €2.70 per hour, subject to a daily maximum charge of €15. A reduced daily charge of €10 is available to patients, carers and visitors by contacting a member of the Security department in person or telephone 021 4922118.

Pay stations are located at the steps leading to the main hospital entrance and to the rear of the Glandore centre which serve the ED and Outpatients car parks. All pay stations accept both cash and card payments.

If necessary, measures such as clamping are in place to police parking in unauthorised areas. Disabled Parking

There is designated parking for those with special needs provided at various locations throughout the campus. These locations are strictly policed and members of the public are requested to respect them.

Long Term Parking

Visitor and long term patients may be facilitated for discount parking in special circumstances. This can be organised by speaking to a member of Security Staff.

Visiting Hours

Outpatients Department

Only patients can attend antenatal and gynaecology appointments, but this is reviewed on an individual basis. 

Partners or nominated person can attend at ultrasound departments for early pregnancy scans, dating scans and anatomy scans.

Inpatients

Partner/nominated person can attend from 7am to 11pm. 

Unexpected events and complications are reviewed on an individual basis.

Delivery Suite

The birthing partner can attend when the patient is transferred to the Delivery Suite.

The birthing partner can attend for the birth.

The birthing partner can attend for delivery by caesarean section.

In the antenatal period any patient wishing for the attendance of a Doula in addition to the birthing partner must make the request to the hospital. 

Any unexpected events or circumstances are reviewed on an individual basis.

Postnatal or Gynaecology Wards

Partner or nominated person can attend from 7am to 11pm.

Unexpected events and complications are reviewed on an individual basis.

Neonatal Unit

When a baby is in the Neonatal Unit both parents can visit their baby together at the same time.

General

Partners or nominated person can attend following pregnancy loss diagnosis and any subsequent visits.

Travelling from Cork City by bus

  • 214 Bus (Patrick Street to CUH) Stops outside Emergency Department.
  • 216 Bus (Mount Oval to City Center to CUH) Stops inside the gates at the main hospital entrance.
  • 208 Bus (Mayfield to City Center to Bishopstown/Curraheen) Stops outside the gates at the main hospital entrance.
  • 201Bus (Mayfield to Blackpool to Knocknaheeney Orbital Route) Stops outside the gates at the main hospital entrance.
  • 219 Bus (Mahon to Bishopstown Orbital Route) Stops outside the gates at the main hospital entrance.
  • 205 Bus (Kent Station to Cork Institute of Technology) Stops at the bottom of Bishopstown Avenue. It is a 5 minute walk to CUH.
  • 220 Bus (Ovens to Ballincollig to Model Farm Road to Cork to Douglas to Marybourough Hill to Carrigaline to Crosshaven to Fountainstown) Stops at the bottom of Bishopstown Avenue. It is a 5 minute walk to CUH.

Travelling from Cork County by bus

  • 236 Bus (Castletownbere to Cork) Stops outside the gates at the main hospital entrance.
  • 237 Bus (Goleen to Cork) Stops outside the gates at the main hospital entrance.
  • 239 Bus (Bandon to Cork) Stops outside the gates at the main hospital entrance.

If you would like independent support to make a complaint about the care you have received in a public acute hospital, you can contact the Patient Advocacy Service. The Patient Advocacy Service is an independent, free and confidential service that provides information and support to people who want to make a formal complaint through the HSE ‘Your Service, Your Say’ complaints policy about the care they have experienced in a HSE-funded public acute hospital or a HSE-operated nursing home.
