There has been a cyber attack on our IT systems. This has caused some disruption to our services.

Community health services
Most community health services such as disability, mental health, primary care and older people’s services are operating as normal.
COVID-19 vaccination appointments
COVID-19 vaccination appointments are going ahead as normal.
Getting a COVID-19 test
If you have an appointment for a COVID-19 test, this will go ahead. You should go to the test centre in your appointment as planned.
If you have symptoms of COVID-19
Self-isolate (stay in your room) and phone your GP. They may tell you to go to a COVID-19 test centre.
You can also go to any test centre without phoning your GP.
If you are a close contact
The close contacts text message (SMS) service is up and running again.
If you are a close contact, go for your test at the time, date and location in the text message. Do not go to a walk-in test centre without an appointment.
COVID-19 test results
There may be some delay in getting your COVID-19 test results.
If you are waiting for a COVID 19 test result, it’s important that you self-isolate (stay in your room) until you get your test result. This is stricter advice than usual while our IT systems are down.
Contact tracing is still operating but it may take longer than usual.
Sexual Assault Treatment Units
Sexual Assault Treatment Units (SATUs) remain open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
National Counselling Service
Video call appointments may be changed to phone calls. Face-to-face and phone appointments are going ahead as normal.
We are experiencing some disruption to our services.
Screening appointments are continuing. If you have a screening appointment, go to it as planned. There may be a delay in getting your test results

We are continuing to receive and process samples from home testing kits. Please return your kit as normal. If you are scheduled for a follow-up colonoscopy, our BowelScreen nurse will call you to talk about the procedure. Changes to our services will be updated here.

Follow up appointments
See service disruption updates from each hospital by county to find out if appointments are going ahead as planned in your area, if you have a follow-up hospital appointment from your screening test.
Some virtual appointments may be cancelled or changed to phone calls. Your hospital will contact you if your appointment is cancelled.
Quit Stop Smoking Service
If you are receiving support from the Quit service, there may be a delay in receiving support calls. If you have contact details for your assigned stop smoking advisor, contact them to continue your support programme.
Medical card applications
Due to the cyber attack, it is not possible to apply online for a medical card at the moment. You can still apply by post, but the processing time is slower. There are also some delays with email communications.

Information for HSE suppliers and contractors
The HSE is experiencing difficulty with a number of its business systems following the cyber attack. We are working as quickly as we can to restore our systems. We really appreciate the support of our suppliers at this time and are very sorry for the inconvenience we know this will cause. We will provide further updates as soon as they are available.
We cannot currently communicate purchase orders to suppliers and contractors. We are putting an interim solution in place to support the processing of purchase orders.
Payments to suppliers
We appreciate the continued support of our suppliers as we work to restore our finance and procurement systems. We made good progress last week, making payments to suppliers nationally. We continue to work towards restoring all systems over the coming weeks.
