High blood pressure and COVID-19

Last updated: 2 May 2020 5.40pm

Having high blood pressure may put you at a higher risk of serious illness if you get COVID-19 (coronavirus).

Follow the advice for people who may be at higher risk groups from COVID-19.

Take your medicine as usual unless you are told not to by a healthcare professional.

Stopping your medicines may cause your blood pressure to rise. This may increase your risk of heart attack and stroke.
