Biography

Mr Zeeshan Ahmed qualified from the University of Health Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan in 2004 and initially trained in General Surgery and completed the fellowship of the College of Physician and Surgeons there. Later he trained in vascular surgery in Dublin to achieve the FRCSI along with MCh before going abroad to Canada. There he completed a fellowship in Vascular and Endovascular surgery form University of Toronto with special focus on extra cranial carotid disease and management of critical limb threatening ischaemia.

Mr Ahmed has worked in his native Pakistan at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, in various hospitals in Dublin and at the hospitals affiliated with the University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada. He also worked at the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland as a vascular surgery lecturer while affiliated with Beaumont Hospital, Dublin. He returned from Canada to take up employment as a consultant vascular surgeon at University Hospital Limerick.

Mr Ahmed is a member of the Irish Vascular Society, European Society of Vascular Surgery and British Society of Endovascular Therapy.
He has also served as an examiner for undergraduate examinations of the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland and at University of Toronto School of Medicine.

He is a keen researcher and has published numerous research papers in internationally renowned journals. He obtained a MCh from RCSI with a thesis on Augmented Reality Learning during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mr Ahmed is currently a Consultant Vascular Surgeon at University Hospital Limerick and also delivers undergraduate lectures at UL School of Medicine.

Extra-cranial carotid disease, limb salvage and mesenteric ischaemia.

He has an avid interest in football, gardening and cooking.
