Biography
Dr Mai Nguyen graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2012, earning accolades as a Trinity Scholar in Medicine during her time there. Before this, she completed an Honours Degree in Life Sciences at Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada. She has also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Factors in Patient Safety.
Dr Nguyen completed the Advanced Specialist Training in Emergency Medicine in 2020 which allowed her to work in Emergency Departments all over the country including the Mater, Temple Street, Tallaght, Cork, and Waterford. Following this, she did a Fellowship in Intensive Care Medicine, gaining experiences in Beaumont and St. James Hospital. Through the Fellowship, she got great exposure to Neurosurgical, Burns, and Covid Critical Care. She is also working as a University of Limerick Graduated Entry Medicine Tutor, teaching both Problem-Based Learning and Clinical Skills.
Dr Nguyen is Faculty for ECHO Guided Life Support (EGLS) and a Level 1 Ultrasound Trainer for RCSI. Dr Nguyen was previously the President of the Irish Emergency Medicine Trainee’s Association. She is currently a member of the Irish Association of Emergency Medicine and the European Society for Emergency Medicine.
Dr Nguyen is now working as a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at HSE Mid West.
Dr Nguyen is very fond of the outdoors and staying active. She enjoys running, tag rugby, and spending time with her two little girls.
