Biography
Dr John McManus qualified with honours in 1997 from NUIG. He completed his specialist training in Geriatric Medicine and General Internal Medicine in 2007 on the South Thames Specialist Training Scheme in Geriatric Medicine and General Internal Medicine in London. He subsequently did a stroke fellowship at St Mary’s Hospital in London. Prior to his appointment as a Consultant Physician at University Hospital Limerick in 2013, he worked as a Consultant Geriatrician at King’s College Hospital London, the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore and University Hospital Kerry.
Dr Mc Manus has an active research interest in both ageing and stroke medicine and has presented his work both nationally and internationally. His MD thesis studied delirium post-stroke. His research work has been published in several international journals.
Dr Mc Manus has a longstanding interest in medical education. He is presently the Training Lead for HSE Mid West. He is also the Regional Programme Director for the Mid-West BST Scheme in General Internal Medicine.
