Biography
Mr Johan van der Stok completed his orthopaedic specialist training in the Netherlands at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam in 2020. Prior to his specialist training he successfully defended his PhD-thesis entitled: ‘Bone graft substitutes developed for trauma and orthopaedic surgery'. He specialised in hand surgery as well as knee arthroplasty through fellowship training in Ireland. He spent one year as a fellow knee arthroplasty in the Beacon Hospital, and one year as the Irish Hand Surgery Society fellow in Tallaght University Hospital, St James' Hospital and Connolly Hospital. In 2022, he became a European Board-Certified Hand Surgeon after successfully passing his exam in London.
At HSE Mid West, Dr van der Stok offers patients a wide spectrum of surgical procedures including keyhole wrist surgery, 3D-guided hand and forearm bone corrections, joint replacements including thumb and small finger joints as well as partial and total knee replacements.
