Biography

Dr Joe Kelly, originally from Limerick City, gained his medical degree from University College Cork in 2002. He previously gained his primary degree in Applied Mathematics and Computing from the University of Limerick in 1994. He completed his basic surgical training scheme in University Hospital Limerick in 2005 and subsequently embarked on his career in Emergency Medicine.

Dr Kelly worked in a variety of emergency departments in Ireland during his higher specialist training in Emergency Medicine and completed this training in 2014. He has been working as a consultant in Emergency Medicine at the University Hospital Limerick since 2016.
Dr Kelly sits on the Resuscitation Committee and the Major Emergency Planning Committee at University Hospital Limerick. He also acts as the clinical lead for HSE Mid West educational programme delivered in Ghana annually, in conjunction with the University of Limerick. He instructs on ATLS and ACLS courses nationally.
