Biography

Dr. Joe Devlin is a graduate of University College Dublin (1988) and has worked in clinical rheumatology for the past 31 years.
He completed post-graduate training in the UK and was an Honorary Senior Lecturer and Consultant Rheumatologist in the University of Leeds where he completed an MD thesis. He took up a Consultant Rheumatologist position in Waterford in 2003.
He was appointed National Director for Quality, Safety and Risk for the HSE in 2009, and worked for three years in areas of risk management, patient safety and quality improvement. In 2012 he returned to full time clinical practice as a Consultant Rheumatologist in the Midwest, with clinical commitments in Nenagh, University Hospital Limerick, and Croom Orthopaedic Hospitals.
Dr Devlin has particular interests in the management of early arthritis, osteoporosis, and in the area of chronic rheumatic pain management, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland.
