Biography
Dr. Jawad Zaman acquired his basic cardiology training in Ireland before pursuing subspecialty training in the United Kingdom. His first subspecialty training was in heart failure and devices at University Hospital Southampton, UK (2021–2022). He then gained coronary intervention training at University Hospital Limerick (2022–2023) before taking up a Senior Fellow position in Interventional Cardiology and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation at University Hospital Southampton (2023–2024). That makes Dr. Zaman well trained in treatment and management of most common complex cardiac conditions and he has been part of the cath lab and primary PCI consultant rota in Limerick since February 2024 as a locum which has now become a regular post since September 2024.
Dr. Zaman is a keen researcher and has published numerous research papers in internationally renowned journals. He holds a Master of Science degree in Interventional Cardiovascular Medicine from the National University of Ireland. His thesis examined the role of Shockwave Lithotripsy in calcified coronary artery disease.
Dr. Zaman works as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at University Hospital Limerick.
His areas of interest include coronary intervention, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), both simple and complex cardiac device implantation, and all aspects of clinical cardiology.
He has an avid interest in cricket and travelling.
