Biography
Dr Grzegorz Korpanty graduated from Jagiellonian University Medical College in Kraków, Poland in 1998. He completed his internship at the University Hospital in Kraków and started Internal Medicine Training as well as his PhD scholarship. He completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in the Department of Cardiology and in the Nancy B. and Jake L. Hamon Center for Therapeutic Oncology Research at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Centre at Dallas, Texas, USA. He completed his PhD thesis in 2005 in the Jagiellonian University in Karków, Poland.
In 2006, he started his Good Clinical Practice training in internal medicine at Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI). In 2008, he started his 4 years' clinical training in medical oncology at RCPI. He worked as a medical oncology registrar in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.
After completion of his training in medical oncology, he completed a two-year clinical fellowship in thoracic oncology under the supervision of Dr Frances Shepherd in Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, Canada. He also completed clinical fellowships in gastrointestinal, pancreatic/hepatobiliary and gynaecological malignancies in Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, Canada.
He was a Senior Fellow in the Investigational New Drug (IND) Program led by Dr Lesley Seymour in the Canadian Cancer Trials Group – CCTG (previously known as NCIC CTG) from 2015 until 2017. Since May 2017 he is a Consultant Medical Oncologist in Mid-Western Cancer Centre at University Hospital Limerick where he treats patients with lung cancer, colon and rectal cancer, bladder cancer, renal cancer, melanoma and CNS malignancies.
