Biography
Professor Austin Stack graduated MB BCH BOA University College Dublin in 1991. He completed his medical residency and early nephrology training in Ireland and pursued fellowship training (1996-1999) in Nephrology and Transplantation in the United States at the University of Michigan.
Professor Stack was awarded MSc in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis (MSc) at the Racham School of Public Health and was appointed to the research teams at the Kidney Epidemiology and Cost Centre (KECC) and US Renal Data System (USRDS).
He was appointed Assistant Professor in 2002 at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, Texas. Professor Stack returned to Ireland in 2005 as Consultant Nephrologist in the Northwest region. He was awarded his MD in Medicine (Epidemiology) in 2005 and promoted to Associate Professor in 2007. In 2012, he joined the University of Limerick as Professor and Chair of Medicine at University Hospital Limerick and the Graduate Entry Medical School.
Professor Stack has published research in many areas including chronic kidney disease, comparative effectiveness research, clinical trials in chronic kidney disease, disease surveillance and disease registries.
