Biography

Professor Michael Watts graduated from Flinders University, Adelaide, South Australia with a BMBS BSC. He obtained a certificate of specialist training in the United Kingdom in Geriatric and General (Internal) Medicine in 2000. He is on the specialist register of the Irish Medical Council in Geriatric and General (Internal) Medicine. Professor Watts was appointed as consultant general physician at University Hospital Limerick in 2001. He is also the Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Limerick Graduate Entry Medical School (GEMS). He is the Clinical Lead for the Applications to the Specialist Division of the Medical Register for the Irish Committee on Higher Medical Training (ICHMT) for Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. Professor Watts is the co-chair of Venous thromboembolism (VTE) Ireland. VTE Ireland is the national Irish clinical working group on VTE.
