Biography
Mr Mark Wilson MCh, FRCSI(OMFS), MFDS, RCSEd has been working as a consultant in the Oral Maxillofacial Service in ULHG since 2018. Mark graduated with honours degrees in both dentistry and medicine and subsequently underwent 5-years of higher surgical training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in the South West of England. in Mark's final year of training, he was appointed as a Trainee Inteface Group (TIG) Fellow in Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery on the London rotation. In 2018, the European Association of Cranio-maxillo-facial surgeons awarded him the Hugo Obwegeser travelling scholarship, and this enabled him to gain further experience in Maxillofacial Units in Germany. Mark has a specialised interest in the treatment and reconstruction of mucosal cancers of the oral cavity and facial skin lesions. He is a member of the Regional Head and Neck and Skin Cancer MDTs at UHL. Mark has published numerous articles in the maxillofacial literature and was awarded a Masters of Surgery degree by the Royal College of Surgery in Ireland in 2014. He is involved with supervision and teaching of senior surgical trainees in OMFS at both undergraduate and postgraduate dental and medical students. Mark's areas of interest are head and neck cancer, surgical dermatology, facial trauma, orthognathic surgery, facial plastic surgery, oral surgery.
