How to find your patient information leaflet online

Your patient information leaflet (PIL) is the leaflet that comes with your medicine.

The leaflet contains information about:

  • side effects
  • ingredients
  • directions for use

The leaflet is often referred to as a:

  • patient information leaflet
  • PIL
  • package leaflet
  • medicine leaflet

You can find the leaflet in 2 different places online:

  1. The Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA)
  2. The European Medicines Agency (EMA)

You can find a digital version of the leaflet by searching for your medicine on the HPRA.

If you can’t find the leaflet on the HPRA, you can find it on the EMA in your medicines European Public Assessment Report (EPAR). This document contains a copy of the leaflet in ‘Annex III’, under ‘package leaflet’.
