About Midwifery/Obsterics/Endocrinology
Registered Advanced Midwife Practitioner (RAMP) Diabetes led service, encompasses Diabetes care of women during pregnancy, labour, and the postpartum period. Face to Face combined clinic with a Consultant Endocrinologist once a week on the UMHL site.
About Diabetes in Pregnancy Service
Diabetes in Pregnancy Service provides Diabetes care to women with Gestational Diabetes from diagnosis until discharge home from hospital and women with Type 1 or 2 Diabetes, Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young (MODY), Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults (LADA) in pregnancy and until 6 weeks post delivery. The service is provided using virtual platforms and face to face clinics.
Referrals and Appointments
Available to: High-risk Specialised Care Pathway Pregnant women with Gestational Diabetes, Type 1 or 2 Diabetes, Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young (MODY) and Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults (LADA)
Who needs to refer you: GP NCHD Consultant
How to access this service: Referral Letter to include name, date of birth, address, LMP, clinical diagnosis, medical history, surgical history, list of co-existing medical conditions, list of comorbidities, list of any past/current mental health issues, list of other medical or surgical services the patient is attending, list of current medications.
Special instructions for patients during COVID19
We may ask you to:
- attend a virtual clinic
- wear a face mask/other PPE
- complete a COVID-19 questionnaire by phone before coming to hospital and to repeat same on arrival
- to wait in their car until closer to your appointment time
