About Speech and Language Therapy

Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) work with persons who experience difficulties with speech, language, voice and/or swallowing. These difficulties are often associated with stroke, neurological conditions, head, neck and lung cancer and age-related diseases.

About Speech and Language Therapy

Services provided include assessment, diagnosis and the development of appropriate intervention and management plans for inpatients presenting with speech, language, voice and/or swallowing disorders. Access to objective swallowing assessment (Videofluoroscopy and FEES) is available when indicated.

Special instructions for patients during COVID19

We may ask you to:

  • wear a face mask/other PPE
  • attend at less social hours to facilitate extended operating hours of services
  • attend a virtual clinic
  • complete a checklist on day before coming to hospital (the checklist will be provided with your appointment letter)
