Endoscopy

Endoscopy is a nonsurgical procedure used to examine a person's digestive tract to diagnose, evaluate and treat conditions of the oesophagus, stomach and portion of the intestine. The aim of the Endoscopy team at St. John's Hospital is to provide a diagnosis and treatment for people with symptoms of upper and lower gastrointestinal problems.

Endoscopy Service Outpatients

Patients will receive details of the endoscopy procedure and what preparation may be required prior to appointment. If you are a diabetic or are taking a anticoagulant, check with your GP or the endoscopy team for instructions of what is required on days leading to your procedure. You may require sedation for your procedure. Please organise a drive home as this may affect your procedure being rescheduled.
