Biography
Dr Hilary O’Leary studied medicine at the National University of Ireland, Galway. After completing the Irish higher medical training programme in haematology, she completed clinical fellowships in leukaemia, bone marrow transplant and lymphoproliferative disorders at the British Columbia Cancer Centre in Vancouver, Canada. Her research in Vancouver focused on lymphoproliferative disorders, in particular, various aspects of the management of peripheral T cell lymphoma. She has been working as a consultant haematologist in University Hospital Limerick since 2009, providing both a benign and malignant haematology service. She also has responsibility for clinical governance of blood transfusion practice in the Mid Western area. She is currently clinical lead for the haematology service at UHL. She represents the Department of Medicine on the Cancer Strategy Group at UL Hospitals. She is on the Clinical Executive Committee of Cancer Trials Ireland and also is part of the Safety Monitoring Committee at Cancer Trials Ireland. She is the secretary of the Lymphoma Forum of Ireland.
