Biography
Dr. Alan Watts qualified from Trinity College Dublin in 2004. He completed Advanced Specialist Training in Emergency Medicine in Ireland working in Dublin, Waterford and Cork. He then undertook a retrieval fellowship with the Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance Service (MICAS) at Cork University Hospital. Dr. Watts graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. He worked as a nurses’ aide in the ED at Brigham & Women’s Hospital and worked in xenotransplant research at Massachusetts General Hospital. He recently completed the Diploma in Leadership and Quality in Healthcare through RCPI and earned the Diploma in Immediate Medical Care from RCSI(Ed) during his training. Dr. Watts served as Course Director of the Advanced Paramedic Programme at UCD. He coordinates the University Hospital Limerick ED Journal Club and he is the current Clinical Lead for Schwartz Rounds at UL Hospitals Group.
